Growing Space

As part of a much larger garden the brief was to create a ‘secret garden’ which provided a quiet, private place to sit as well as being a very productive and attractive vegetable garden. This was a large area that needed to include a large greenhouse and garden buildings at a scale to balance the space. A large ‘rhubarb’ fountain in a raised pond formed the centrepiece to the garden, while bespoke-designed timber walk-through arbours, a swing seat and an L-shaped seating area supported scented climbers. A combination of box-edged borders and timber raised beds gave a generous amount of growing space, together with a fruit cage and trellis obelisks.
